Shadow Puppet Museum By Gressa Audrina TRANSPARENCY Wayang as a form of traditional art that can be viewed from both sides has a transparent characteristic as its structure that light permeates and reveal the details of the carvings. The building also uses transparent characteristic applied in the structure of the roofs, windows and building envelope.
LIGHTWEIGHT Wayang’s physical structures are mainly made of thin layer of membrane reinforced by a thin frame that gives a lightweight impression. The structure of the building also uses the same principles; walls and roofs are reinforced with frame systems and then layered with thin material, which gives it a light impression.
DYNAMIC Other elements of the building are designed to be dynamic and alive, symbolizing the movement of Wayang in a show. These elements are applied into walls, roofs and stairs. The dynamic impression is made by the presence of a spiraling cone-like room that makes the building looks more alive.
